All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Sports Authority and Nike sets attendance record

Event raises more than $200,000 benefiting four cancer charities

The All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Sports Authority and Nike today set records for total attendance with 9,209 participants and money raised with more than $200,000 in proceeds. That amount is more than double the 2009 total raised in St. Louis thanks to increased sponsor support of the event.

Major League Baseball today announced the return of the All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Nike, which will take place on Sunday, July 11, 2010. MLB will donate all net-proceeds from the event to four charities supporting cancer research and education – Prostate Cancer Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and City of Hope.

Over 10,000 People Attend Southern California’s Largest Super Bowl Celebration: Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K

REDONDO BEACH, Calif.- On a sunny Sunday, following a rainy week, the atmosphere at the start line of the 32nd Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K/5K , February 7, 2010- http://www.redondo10k.com – contained a mix of excitement, laughter, smiles, and cheers coming from runners, walkers and baby buggies. Large crowds gathered to witness this annual race and enjoy the on-site festivities.  The day started with the very popular costume contest, followed by the start of the 10K & 5K, each scenic course runs parallel to the Pacific Ocean and past the Redondo Beach Historic Pier, once finished the crowd headed into the Health & Fitness Expo and the Asahi Beer Garden (where every finisher pick-up their 2 complimentary beers).  The free 2-day Expo, Saturday, Feb. 6, 10:00am- 4:00pm, and Sunday, Feb. 7, 6:00am- noon, offered race enthusiasts, their families, and friends the opportunity to see and enjoy various health & fitness vendors, a live DJ, food, and Asahi beer.

“Senior Citizens” Participate in Avalon 50 Mile Benefit Run

AVALON, Calif.- In it’s 29th year, the 2010 Avalon 50 Mile Benefit Run had a total of 16 finishers between the ages of 60-78. Runners, as young as 20 to as old as 78 years of age participated this year, a majority of the ultra runners were returning participants. With some runners just starting to become part of the tradition and others 27th years deep in it already, it’s no surprise that the avid support for this race brings a family feeling to the start line.

3rd ANNUAL CATALINA ISLAND ECO MARATON  TO BE HELD SATURDAY, NOV. 14TH

Claremont, CA. - (Nov. 4, 2009) The 3rd Annual Catalina Island Eco Marathon will take place Saturday November 14th. The marathon course starts in the city of Avalon, runs through 22 miles of the island’s interior and finishes back in Avalon.  Saturday’s event offers three races for participants to choose from: the Marathon, the 10K or the 5K.  There is an estimated 435 total runners participating: 185 runners to participate in the Marathon, 200 runners to participate in the 10K, and roughly 50 people to take part in the 5K.

MISS USA ®, MISS CALIFORNIA USA ®, MISS CALIFORNIA TEEN USA ® and MISS UNIVERSE ® Take Part in Fourth of July Surf City Run 5k In Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach, Cali. (July 4, 2009) – This morning the Huntington Beach Fourth of July Surf City Run 5K had special guests to help encourage the 4,500 plus registered athletes that took part in the race.  MISS USA Kristen Dalton, MISS CALIFORNIA USA Tami Farrell, MISS CALIFORNIA TEEN USA Chelsea Gilligan and 2008 MISS UNIVERSE Dayana Mendoza said a few words to help encourage the runners as well as awarded medals to each child as they crossed the finish line.  Adults, teens, and kids took part in this race which ran along the coast of Huntington Beach and through Main Street.
