All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Sports Authority and Nike sets attendance record
Event raises more than $200,000 benefiting four cancer charities
The All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Sports Authority and Nike today set records for total attendance with 9,209 participants and money raised with more than $200,000 in proceeds. That amount is more than double the 2009 total raised in St. Louis thanks to increased sponsor support of the event.
Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson made a surprise appearance joining Hall of Famers Rod Carew and Paul Molitor, former Angels Bobby Grich and Tim Salmon and celebrity guests Jillian Michaels, star of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" and "Losing It With Jillian" and Stand Up 2 Cancer advocate, and Award-Winning Actress and advocate Gabrielle Union. MLB Network Analyst and two-time All-Star Harold Reynolds served as master of ceremonies.

Vivien Wadeck, a 31 year-old from North Hollywood, CA, won the women's 5K for the second consecutive year posting a time of 17:49. Conor Stanton, an 18-year old from Fullerton, CA, won the men's 5K with a time of 15:47. Among the men, Mohammad Charara (17, Buena Park, CA) finished second with a time of 15:50 and Edgar Griffith (16, Riverside, CA) finished third with a time of 15:53. For the women, Erin Griffith (21, San Juan Capistrano, CA) finished second with a time of 18:27 and Kenzie Estes (17, Riverside, CA) finished third among the women with a time of 18:55. Major League Baseball is donating 100%

of the registration fees to the four cancer charities: Stand Up to Cancer, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Prostate Cancer Foundation and City of Hope.

The event took the record field of participants on a baseball-themed course in and around Angel Stadium in an unprecedented preview of the All-Star field.

The All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Sports Authority and Nike is proudly supported by Aquafina, Bank of America, Firestone, Gatorade and Getty Images.
